After logging in for the first time, you’ll be guided through setting up your profile.
Basic Information
| Field | Description | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Display Name | How your name appears in LabelGrid (can be your real name or artist name) | Yes |

| Manager | Managing releases for other artists |
Can I change this later? Yes, you can upgrade from Artist to Label as your needs grow.
Step 4: Set Up Your Artist Profile
If you’re releasing music, you’ll need at least one artist profile. This is separate from your account profile - it’s how your music appears on streaming platforms.
Creating Your First Artist
-
Navigate to Catalogue → My Artists.
-
Click Add Artist.
- The artist form has four tabs. On the General tab, enter:
| Field | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Language | Primary language for your profile | Required |
| Name | Your stage name as it appears on platforms | Required, must be unique |
| Location | Your city, country, or region | Optional |
| Artist Email | Contact email | Optional |
-
On the Bio tab, add your biography and affiliations.
-
On the Web Presence tab, link your social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Apple Music).
Important: Artist Name Guidelines
Your artist name should be:
- Unique - Not confusingly similar to existing artists
- Consistent - Spelled the same way across all releases
- Real - Not impersonating another artist
Already have music out? If you’re moving from another distributor, use your exact existing artist name to maintain your streaming history and followers.
Step 5: Payment Setup
To receive royalties, you’ll need to set up your payment information.
Adding Payment Details
-
Go to Settings > Payments.
-
Click Add Payment Method.
- Choose your payment type:
| Method | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Transfer (ACH) | US accounts | Direct deposit to your bank |
| Wire Transfer | International | May have transfer fees |
| PayPal | Worldwide | Quick and convenient |
Tax Information
Depending on your location, you may need to provide tax documentation:
- US Artists: W-9 form required
- International Artists: W-8BEN form may be required
Why tax forms? Streaming platforms require proper tax documentation. Without it, payments may be delayed or subject to higher withholding.
Step 6: Identity Verification (If Required)
Some features require identity verification to comply with regulations and prevent fraud.
When Verification Is Needed
You’ll need to verify your identity to:
- Receive royalty payments above certain thresholds
- Access certain distribution features
- Claim an existing artist profile
How to Verify
-
Go to Settings > Verification.
-
Click Start Verification.
-
Provide the requested documents:
- Government-issued ID (passport, driver’s license, or national ID)
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement) - if requested
- Wait for review (typically 1-3 business days).
