Fixing Artist Profile Issues
Artist profile issues on streaming platforms can affect your discoverability and analytics. This guide explains common problems and how to fix them.
Common Artist Profile Problems

Duplicate Artist Profiles
Section titled “Duplicate Artist Profiles”Why Duplicates Happen
Section titled “Why Duplicates Happen”Duplicate profiles are created when:
- Artist name spelling varies between releases
- Special characters are handled differently
- A new profile is created instead of matching existing one
- Same name as another artist
How to Identify Duplicates
Section titled “How to Identify Duplicates”- Search for your artist name on the streaming platform
- Look for multiple profiles with similar names
- Check if your releases are split across profiles
- Note the profile URLs/IDs for each duplicate
Fixing Duplicates on Spotify
Section titled “Fixing Duplicates on Spotify”To merge duplicate Spotify profiles:
- Go to Spotify for Artists
- Claim both profiles (if possible)
- Use the Report a Problem feature
- Select “Merge artist profiles”
- Provide both profile URLs
- Explain which is the correct/primary profile
What Spotify needs:
- URLs of both profiles
- Which profile should be kept
- Proof you represent the artist
Fixing Duplicates on Apple Music

- Go to Apple Music for Artists
- Claim your primary profile
- Contact Apple support through the platform
- Request profile merge
- Provide all profile IDs
Preventing Future Duplicates

- Include platform IDs in LabelGrid when known
- Check before releasing if artist already exists
Wrong Artist Match

- Another artist has the same or similar name
- Metadata matched to wrong existing profile
- Common name without distinguishing features
How to Fix Wrong Matches
Section titled “How to Fix Wrong Matches”Step 1: Identify the issue
- Note which releases are affected
- Find the correct artist profile (or confirm one doesn’t exist)
- Document the wrong profile where music appeared
Step 2: Contact LabelGrid support
- Provide release details (title, UPC, ISRC)
- Include both profile URLs (wrong and correct)
- We’ll re-deliver with corrected matching
Step 3: Contact the platform
- Use the platform’s artist tools to report the issue
- Request music be moved to correct profile
Preventing Wrong Matches

- Link to existing profiles in LabelGrid before releasing
- Include artist IDs in your release metadata
- Add distinguishing info to artist bio
Missing Releases on Profile

Section titled “Why Releases Go Missing”Releases may not appear on your profile when:
- Artist name doesn’t match exactly
- Release is under a different artist profile
- Delivery hasn’t completed yet
- Platform ingestion issues
Troubleshooting Steps

- Verify the release was delivered successfully
- Check for any delivery errors
2. Verify artist name matches
- Compare the release artist name to your profile name
- Even small differences (spacing, punctuation) can cause issues
3. Check if it’s on a different profile
- Search for the release title
- See which artist profile it appears under
4. Allow processing time
- New releases can take hours to days to appear
- Catalog updates may take longer
Getting Releases Added to Correct Profile
Section titled “Getting Releases Added to Correct Profile”- Confirm the release exists on the platform
- Contact platform support with:
- Release details (title, UPC)
- Correct artist profile URL
- Where the release currently appears
- Or contact LabelGrid to re-deliver with corrected data
Unable to Claim Artist Profile

Section titled “Why Claiming Fails”You may be unable to claim a profile when:
- Another person has already claimed it
- Verification requirements not met
- Name doesn’t match releases exactly
- Platform can’t verify your identity
Claiming Through LabelGrid

- Ensure you have releases delivered through LabelGrid
- Verify your artist name matches exactly
- Contact LabelGrid support

Platform-Specific Claiming

- Requires active release on Spotify
- Verify via social media, distributor, or manager
- Start at artists.spotify.com
Apple Music for Artists:
- Requires Apple ID
- Music must be on Apple Music
- Start at artists.apple.com
YouTube Official Artist Channel:
- Requires YouTube account
- Must meet eligibility requirements
- Facilitated through distributor (contact us)
Profile Information Is Wrong

- Most platforms let verified artists update their own bio and images
- Changes may take time to reflect
Through LabelGrid:
- Update artist profile in LabelGrid

Prevention Checklist
