If you believe content distributed through LabelGrid infringes your copyright or the copyright of someone you represent, you can submit a DMCA takedown request.

How to File a Claim

Required Information

Your DMCA notice must include:

  1. Your signature - Physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent
  2. Copyrighted work - Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed
  3. Infringing content - Information sufficient to locate the allegedly infringing content
  4. Contact information - Your address, phone number, and email address
  5. Good faith statement - A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  6. Accuracy statement - A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf

Note: Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing may result in liability for damages, including costs and attorney fees.


Content Uploaded via Another Distributor

If the infringing content was uploaded using a service other than LabelGrid, we cannot assist with removal. You’ll need to contact the streaming platforms directly.

If Your Content Was Removed (Counter-Notice)

If you believe your content was removed due to a misidentification or mistake, you may submit a DMCA counter-notice.

How to Submit a Counter-Notice

Required Information

Your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your signature - Physical or electronic signature
  2. Content identification - Identification of the content that was removed and where it appeared before removal
  3. Good faith statement - A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification
  4. Contact information - Your name, address, and telephone number
  5. Consent to jurisdiction - A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or any judicial district in which LabelGrid may be found if outside the US)
  6. Acceptance of service - A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original infringement notification

What Happens Next

  1. We forward your counter-notice to the original claimant
  2. The claimant has 10 business days to notify us they have filed a court action
  3. If no court action is filed within 10-14 business days, we may reinstate the content
  4. Streaming platforms may have their own policies about reinstatement

Warning: If you misrepresent that content is not infringing, you may be liable for damages including costs and attorney fees. Fraudulent or abusive counter-notices may result in account termination.

Protecting Yourself from Claims

Before You Release

  • Clear all samples - Get written permission or licenses for any samples used
  • License cover songs - Obtain mechanical licenses through services like HFA, Songfile, or DistroKid’s cover song licensing
  • Document everything - Keep contracts, licenses, and written agreements
  • Verify collaborators - Ensure everyone involved has agreed to the release

Repeat Infringer Policy

In accordance with the DMCA, LabelGrid maintains a policy of terminating accounts of users who are repeat infringers. Multiple valid copyright claims against your account may result in:

  • Removal of infringing content
  • Account suspension
  • Permanent account termination
  • Inability to create new accounts
