Artist accounts

Artist accounts represent the financial relationship between your label and each artist. Each account tracks earnings, expenses, and payments with a running balance.

Artist accounts are created automatically when:

  • An artist is added to a release with royalty splits configured
  • Earnings are first attributed to an artist

You can also create accounts manually from the Artist Accounts page.

  1. Navigate to Royalties in the main menu
  2. Select Artist Accounts
  3. View the list of all artists with their current balances
FieldDescription
Artist nameThe artist’s credited name
Account numberUnique identifier for the account
BalanceCurrent unpaid balance (earnings minus expenses minus payments)
Total earnedLifetime earnings credited to this account
Total paidLifetime payments made to the artist
Total expensesLifetime deductions applied
Tax territoryThe artist’s country for tax purposes

Use the filters at the top of the list to:

  • Search by artist name
  • Sort by balance, earnings, or name
  • Filter by account status

An artist’s balance is calculated as:

Balance = Total Earned − Total Expenses − Total Paid
  • Positive balance — The artist has unpaid earnings
  • Zero balance — All earnings have been paid or offset by expenses
  • Negative balance — Expenses (such as advances) exceed current earnings

When configuring royalty splits on a release, you set the percentage each artist receives. The label retains the remainder. For example, if an artist’s split is 50%, they receive half of the net royalties for that release.

The split percentage is configured per release when setting up royalty splits in the release editor.

Artist accounts are linked to artists through the royalty split configuration on releases. When you assign a royalty split percentage to an artist on a release, their payout account is automatically associated.
